Multiple Mirrors with One Frame

 

Four specimens, each of which features a gypsum frame encompassing five tiny glass mirrors, one central and four peripheral. The purpose of this curious design is unclear. 

Provenance: Dibsī (northeast of Aleppo). 
Diameter of the frames 10.7 - 11.8 cm. 
Era: Roman.
