The following individuals were buried in this mausoleum according to ʿAbd al-Qādir an-Nuʿaymī:
"Turbā an-Naǧmīyyā, in the neighborhood of aš-Šāmīyyā-al-Ḥusāmīyyā, contains the tomb of Šāhanšāh (1), father of Farrūẖšāhk, Taqī ad-Dīn ʿUmar (2), and Lady ʿAḏrā (3), and also the tomb of al-Malik al-Manṣūr Ḥasan, son of Sultan Saladin, and that of Fatḥ ad-Dīn son of Asad ad-Dīn Šīrkūh (4).
Four relatives of Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn must have been buried in this turbā but no in situ inscriptions have survived, Herzfeld (5) reported "on the outside, above the small door, 46 by 49 cm., seven lines of old Nasẖī in small letters:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
هذا قبر الملك
المنصور حسن بن الملك الناصر صلاح الدين يوسف
ابن أيّوب توفّي مستهلّ جمادى الآخر سنة خمس وسبعين وخمسمائة رحمه الله
"In the name of Allah the merciful the compassionate... This is the tomb of al-malik Manṣūr Ḥasan son of al-malik an-Nāṣir Ṣalāḥ ad-Dīn Yūsuf son of ʾAyyūb; he died the first of Ǧumādā I 575 (6), Allah be merciful to him!"
There is no inscription on the exterior of the monument now, nor is one to be seen in Herzfeld's photograph of the exterior, nor is there any place for one now missing. Nevertheless, there is no reason to doubt that Herzfeld saw a real inscription. According to Allen, Herzfeld must have omitted a Qurʾānic quotation in lines 1–3. The inscription Herzfeld saw was probably on the now-missing tomb cover inside the mausoleum. As he recorded no others, it may have been the only surviving one of the four inscriptions that must have originally existed.
