Madrasā al-Qliǧīyyā

Ḥanafite Madrasā al-Qliǧīyyā, built by Sayf ad-Dīn Qliǧ an-Nūrī, who charged in his will the qāḍī al-quḍāt Ṣadr ad-Dīn b. Sanī ad-Dawlā to constitute it as waqf. The qāḍī executed the will after the death of the testator in 645. It contains the turbā of the founder, who died in 643.... Šihāb ad-dīn al-Qūsī writes, "The great emir ʿAlī son of Qliǧ . . . died in Šaʿbān 643 (1) in his house, which had been known as Dār al-Fulūs, then Dār aḏ-Ḏahab, under Tankiz. It had originally been the house of H̱ālid son of al-Walīd. He had built, to the north of this house, a madrasā for the Ḥanafites and a qubba (2) where he was buried. Madrasā and turbā were ruined during the Timurid catastrophe (3) and could not be rebuilt since the waqf of the madrasā had been burned down.”

ʿAbd al-Bāsiṭ (4) reports a reconstruction in 924 (5) and another in 970 (6).
