The item in the attached photo is one of several ivory hairpins discovered at the H̱ālidīyyā cemetery in Ḥimṣ; its end is fashioned in the shape of a naked woman, except for a dress with numerous symmetrical folds that she holds with her left hand at the level of her hips. The right upper extremity is flexed to form a right angle at the elbow, and the right hand reaches to the left arm, baring the breasts. The oval face is framed by thick hair forming two small buns crowning the cranial vault. The hair is parted in the middle, descending in two symmetrical braids all the way to the shoulders. Dimensions are not provided.
Era : Roman.
