Ḏakīr

The head and neck are all that remains of this sculpture. The hair is symmetrically combed above a rather narrow forehead marked by two long horizontal wrinkles. The eyebrows are prominent and the nose is hammered. The overall impression is that of a middle-aged dignitary, perhaps a governor or even an emperor. The powerful facial features convey serenity and resolution.

Provenance: Ḏakīr.
Material: basalt.
Dimensions: ?
Era: Classical.
A collection of the National Museum of Damascus
