Tanf VII

 

The attached photo is of one of eight stones carrying Ṣafāʾitic inscriptions discovered 35 kilometers southeast of at-Tanf and brought to the National Museum of Damascus in 1966. This stone carries an inscription transliterated as follows:

Li H̱āliṣat bin Waṣūṣ bin Sam wa Raʿī

min Aǧlaḥ bin Ṯaʿlab bin Šihāb wa tašawwaq ilā

The text is a message addressed by Aǧlaḥ, son of Ṯaʿlab, son of Šihāb, to H̱āliṣat, son of Waṣūṣ, son of Sam and Raʿī, expressing his longing.
