The sculpture in the attached photo is currently on display in the garden of the National Museum of Damacus. The art is unmistakably Palmyrene and likely reflects the third stage in the evolution of Palmyrene sculpture. Seven persons are seen in the upper register; the third one from the right in the stereotypical reclining position is evidently the head of the family. The presence of a lower register with the elaborate bedpost on the left indicates that the sculpture belonged to a large exedra, or a triclinium at the very least. The exhibition is less than exemplary.
Substance: limestone.
