This man in a Palmyrene costume appears on the right (north) side of the arcosolium at the Mithraeum of Dura-Europos. He holds a staff in his right hand and a scroll in the left. A similar figure is symmetrically sketched on the left side. The two figures are probably portraits of leading members of the mithraeum's congregation of Palmyrene auxiliaries. The Roman troops at Dura Europos included a unit of Palmyrene archers.
Era: 2nd or 3rd century CE.
