Madrasat H̱adīǧā H̱ātūn

 

Or al-Madrasā al-Muršidīyyā. This madrasā is located on Nahr Yazīd at aṣ-Ṣāliḥīyyā, next to dar al-Ḥadīṯ al-ʾAšrafīyyā; it was built by the daughter of al-Malik al-Muʿaẓẓam ʿīsā, son of al-Malik al-ʿĀdil, in 654 (1). 

H̱adīǧā H̱ātūn was married by proxy to H̱awārizm Šāh; she died in the garden of al-Māridānīyyā in Ǧumādā II 650 (2) and was buried in the turbā she had built near that of aš-Šayẖ ʿAlī al-Farīṯī (3).

H̱adīǧā H̱ātūn was probably the daughter of ʿAzīzā, foundress of al-Māridānīyyā. There is no apparent reason for the name Muršidīyyā of her madrasā, unless she had herself entered the Ṣūfī order.
