An Ancient Mirror with an Ivory Frame

The ivory frame is all that is left of this glass mirror. The frame is shaped as a rectangle surmounted by a triangular pediment. The ornamentation consists of two circles, one large and one small. The diameter of the large lower circle is 3.7 cm. The large circle is framed with two circles in bas-relief. The diameter of the small upper circle is 1.7 cm. Additionally, the frame features four small holes, the purpose of which was perhaps to fix the mirror onto the wall or on some piece of furniture.

Provenance: Hauran
Era: Roman.
