An Ancient Mirror with a Wooden Frame I

This mirror is made of convex glass, the back of which is coated with a thin layer of lead. The mirror is fixed with gypsum onto a round wooden frame, which displays two holes; the upper one was perhaps intended for fixing the mirror onto the wall or some piece of furniture.

Provenance: Ṣaydnāyā
Diameter: mirror 8.5 cm, frame 13 - 13.5 cm.
Era: Roman.
Collection of the National Museum of Damascus
